明星

This is one of the sad song (明星/Star) that I had been listening to today. Although my heart is still aching and in the grieving stage, I would like to thank everyone here for the condolences and hugs. Although my dear friend is no longer with us physically, but her presence will always remains in our hearts. And she still bring hopes to those in need, as she had pledged for organ donations earlier on. She will still continue "living" through others and I hope that those who gets her organs for transplantation later on will be blessed throughout their lives.

It is believed that DAP has named party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng as the next Chief Minister of Penang. DAP won all 19 state seats it contested in Penang with PKR winning 6 seats and PAS 2 seats. The opposition has won 27 out of 40 state seats in Penang.

Old TVB drama series

I have a good time watching those nostalgic late 70's - early 80's TVB drama series theme songs (无线电视剧主題曲). 令人回味的經典金曲. Remembering that night when I yakked with Angel for hours, reminiscing the old TVB drama series, and another time with Moz over the similar topic. Time flies.. Some of those series were broadcasted on RTM2 in the past, in the 80's. I took time compiling these theme songs so that I replay back and watch them whenever I feel like doing so :)

Top of the World

Top of the World by The Carpenters (1973) is one of my all-time-favourites. The first time I get to know about this evergreen song was during my primary school days, thanks to my primary school friend who intro me to it. Since then, the song stuck in my mind till now. Isn't it amazing? Although Karen Carpenter has passed away more than 2 decades ago (at the age of 32, in 1983) due to complications related to anorexia, but her voice will live forever. This uplifting classic song, Top of the World always put me on the top of the world.

Balik Kampung

Balik Kampung by late Sudirman is one of the Aidilfiltri song I like. It's an evergreen nostalgic song (in the early 80's) but it still remain popular up to this day. Every year without fail, we can still hear this song being played on air during Raya festival. And somehow over the last few year, everytime this song was played, I will have the flashback of the Blue Hyppo being rejected from boarding the MAS flight to balik kampung (coz no animals allowed to board on the flight). That advertisement really has a great impact. Anyone remember that advertisement? At least I do :)

Even though I watched the HK TVB drama series 上海滩 (The Bund) more than two decades ago, but up to this day I could still remember the casts (Hui Man Keong, Ting Lek, Fung Cheng Cheng) and surprisingly, the ending. Imagine how great is the impact. Most of the time I couldn't even remember the ending of the series that I watched few months back. Remembering Leslie...

1st April 2003 - 4 years had passed since the Canto Pop Singer Leslie Cheung (张国荣) ended his life in a tragic way (summore on April Fool Day). Although he was no longer around, his presence will remain in our hearts. Very fast, today is 9th February liao. Valentine Day coming soon, and so is Chinese New Year :) Wah.. I'll be flying back home in few days time. Cham, cham, cham.. haven't do my CNY shopping yet. 生是一首我非常喜欢的老歌. 这首歌很好听，歌词写得也特别好. Nice old song (in the late 80's) by Jacky Wu (吴宗宪). I love the lyrics. Listening to nice music/songs are therapeutic. When I feel unhappy or sad, I will play some meaningful nice songs and this method really helps. I would like to dedicate this song to Carcar (♥Hope the car is fully repaired and won't breakdown again♥), and also to everyone out there who likes this song.

My Ringtone

夕陽之歌 is my mobile phone default ringtone for the past 4 years (from Nokia 3315 to Nokia 6610i to my current Nokia N73, I’m still using the same default ringtone). Is this what we called as "长情"? 夕陽之歌 (Song of sunset) is the theme song of the movie 英雄本色III 夕陽之歌 (A Better Tomorrow III, released in 1989, by Chow Yuen Fatt, Tony Leung Kar Fai & Anita Mui). Pink Winnie said she dunno this song, but I think likely she had heard this song in the past. I promised her to post this song up and here it is.

红蜻蜓

After I posted up Good Old Times - Old Good Times - Old Times Good, we (Me, Carcar & Cynthia) had a group conversation in MSN yesterday night.

Cynthia : u guys make me cry, celaka.
Cynthia : I'm very ‘kan dong’
Carcar : don’t kan dong
Carcar: We were talking bout u for the past few days.
Chen : yes
Cynthia : Why me ah?
Carcar : Old timer frens mah
Chen : Recalling those good old days mah
Cynthia : I know… can u imagine that
Carcar : wat?
Chen : Imagine wat?
Cynthia : That’s why I wanna cry man..
Cynthia : Imagine.. such a short time.. but it looks like we know each other for years
Chen : yeah
Carcar : yes
Chen : Cynthia, carcar has a request leh..
Chen : Just now, carcar suggested to ask Winn & Cynthia to write similar post on good old times. So Cynthia… can u?
Carcar : Yes
Cynthia : I’m half way writing.. Chen kacau.
Chen : Woo

What Cynthia mentioned is indeed true. Even though it's just one year, but it seems like we have known each other for ages. Carcar even dedicated a song 红蜻蜓 (Red Dragonfly) by 小虎隊 to Cynthia, Winn and me in her blog. Since I have the mp3 song, I will upload it here. (Hahha, none other than... so that we will remember about this and can listen back to the song dedication over & over again in the future :P).

This Carcar.. hahahha... reply lidat, must piak sayang her... I replayed the song 红蜻蜓 over and over again yesterday night . The lyrics put me in deep thought too.. mmmm.... 红色的蜻蜓 (Red Dragonfly), the 玻璃弹珠 (marbles/guli) ... I miss those childhood days playing guli with friends :)

I chatted with DG a week ago..

DG : do u remember this song 在雨中?
Chen : Yes, I have the mp3.

I sent her the song via email and this is the reply she gave me "Not many ppl know about this song... 我们是不是老了？LOL!" Hahhaha.. We are indeed getting older day by day. But one thing for sure, we are no longer 十八 or 二十二 (18 nor 22 years old). This song (在雨中/In the Rain by 刘家昌/尤雅) is one of the popular songs in karaoke in the past :)

Anyone remember this old Taiwanese sad movie 搭错车 /Papa, Can You Hear Me Sing (released in 1983), starring the late Taiwanese actor 孙越 (Suen Yuet)? I love the movie theme song 酒干倘卖无 by 苏芮 . This is a popular song in the 80's. Even though some of you might not know the movie, but I guess you have listened to this song in the past. The lyrics of this song is indeed very touching...

《搭错车》剧情简介：

　　一个退役的台湾老兵是个哑巴，人称哑叔，以收购空酒瓶和捡破烂为生。1958年冬天的一个清晨，哑叔在高级住宅区的巷道里捡回一个被遗弃的女婴，取名阿美。为此，妻子与他发生冲突，并离家而去。哑叔又当爹又当娘，父女二人相依为命，在艰辛贫困的日子中挣扎。为使阿美有更多的人生乐趣，哑叔在劳累之余，还为她吹奏美妙的乐曲。阿美高中毕业后，在某餐厅当歌手。后得到青年作曲家时君迈的帮助，提高了演唱的艺术水平，受到听众的称赞。娱乐公司老板余广泰，为了利用阿美赚钱，引诱她签订赴东南亚演出的合约。

阿美与哑叔商量，哑叔十分矛盾，他既希望女儿有一番作为，又怕女儿孤身在外，遇到风险。最后，阿美为了挣钱帮助父亲摆脱贫困，使其晚年得到一些幸福，答应了签约。不想一纸合同，却断送了自己的自由。演出归来，她已成为红歌星，但却身不由己，不能同年迈的父亲见面。哑叔因思念爱女，卧病在床。风雨交加之夜，阿美饱含不能奉养老父的辛酸，在台上唱出了怀念的心声："没有你，哪有我，假如你不曾养育我，给我父爱和温暖的生活，假如你不曾保护我，我的命运会是什么！" 气息奄奄的哑叔，从收音机里听着女儿熟悉的歌声，怀着思念、悲愤的心情，离开了人世。
