Liulian Ice Cream

The ever popular good old homemade Durian Ice Cream from Kek Seng Kopitiam..

The place is damn packed with humans homo sapiens during lunch hour. Since no empty seats nor tables available, so i had to tapao food back home.. Including the take away ice cream (RM2 leh ~ not cheap; but according to our "rich" Yenjai, that's not expensive). I post this up just to tease Mozzie and Angeles, the liulian lovers :)

Chickpea Mouse

Met up with Fibrate yesterday night and after our Longkang Laksa date, we went to New World Park for second round. We came across some creative handmade handicrafts and souvenirs. What caught our attention is the Chickpea Mouse or Kacang Putih Mouse. How not to fall in love with such chu bee stuff? Even the mini egg is cute too, with soy bean as egg and the green bean as egg yolk.

Nice catching up with you Fibrate, and thanks for this wonderful tikus gift :)

Happy 3rd Blogiversary

It seems like I have been blogging for ages but the reality is.. it's just only 3 years. It all started on 25.4.2005, when my hands were itchy and i started to crap blog, and the rest are histories. And today marks the 3rd Blogiversary of A Journey Called Life. Will I continue to write in the future? How far will I go with this blog? I dunno, as I'm not only writing for my own blog at this moment, but also another memorial blog for a dear and close friend of mine. Time will tell, but rest assured I will still continue on doing what I started 3 years back, and won't stop in the near future...

And last but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for spending your valuable time on this humble space of mine. Terima Kasih Banyak-Banyak :)

Blood Oranges

Guess What?? After all the huh hah regarding the Blood Oranges in LB's recent posts, I came across the bloody Blood Oranges today in Giant Supermarket.

Thanks to LB , else I might thought those are EXPENSIVE ROTTEN ORANGES (RM 1.99 per orange). LOL. After eating and taking few snapshots of the Blood Oranges I bought, it's time to sms and inform LB, my discovery. :P

The sampat LB took a snapshot of our sms-es and posted it to me :D

I choose two slightly "more normal looking" Blood Oranges, instead of those dark purplish oranges, and not those normal looking orange-coloured oranges (as you can see from the first photo). Kiasu and Kiasi spirit mah. LB's Blood Oranges are TAROCCO and mine's are MORO.

The seedless Blood Oranges with crimson, blood-coloured flesh and sap. Nope, I'm not sucking nor eating blood. I'm not dracula nor vampire either. I'm just me, and I am who I am. :P

*Showing Fangs*

p/s: Blood Oranges are rich in Vitamin C and the red pigment (anthocyanin) is an antioxidant

Monkey & Ice Cream

Nowadays monkeys also get to eat ice cream...

"The spoon is kinda disturbing, ka ka cau cau, I will remove it"

"Lick the ice cream on the spoon first before throwing it away, don't waste food mah"

"Lick the spoon till berjilat-jilat & clean liao.. Too troublesome lah to eat with spoon, i prefer eating straight from the ice cream cone."

Now the monkey can truly enjoy eating the chocolate ice cream.. Noticed the spoon on the floor? Ini monkey cincai and simply throw rubbish wan. Should we fine the monkey RM500 fine for littering?

"syiok habis.. yum yum"

I have no idea where the monkey gets the chocolate ice cream from, whether someone gave it to her or she picked it up from the floor or she stole the ice cream??? The monkey was half way eating the ice cream when I stepped my feet into the Penang Botanical Garden yesterday evening...

?? Fruit

Anyone knows what is the name of this seasonal tropical fruit? Had it few times in the past but never get to know what is the actual name...

It's sourish with tinge of sweetness... I know, I know.. Some of you might name it as ~ The Ocipala Fruit :)

Addendum : Btw, this is NOT apricot nor plum...

Addendum : Thanks to Nyonya Pg and Josh for enlightening me with the name of this fruit, which is known as Buah Kundang in Malay Language and "Lam Na" in Hokkien dialect. The other name for Buah Kundang is Buah Sta' (pronounced as Buah Stak)

Missing Number Plate

I didn't realise my car number plate was missing till this morning when I visited the petrol station. After paying at the cashier counter and walking toward my car, to my horror, my car has no number plate! The screws for the number plate were there except the whole number plate was missing. I dunno when did that occurred either. Who vandalised or knocked my car? Wondering how long had I been driving around without the back number plate?

And it costed me RM 14 for the new number plate. Is that expensive, or cheap?

King Kong?

I wonder if any of you here ate this snack during your childhood or primary school time. This is one of my favourite snack in the past ~ The brandless "King Kong" mixed "cookies" or Biskut Campuran. Well, I don't have much selection during those days in the late 70's or early 80's. I felt so happy when I came across the snack again when I visited Kota Kinabalu in 2006, as I haven't see nor taste those food stuff for decades. Sort of reliving my childhood once again... :)

All these while, from childhood time up to these days, I still prefer the yellow cookies than the coconut cookies. It's just my personal preference :)

Addendum : From the comments I get, I come to the conclusion that there's a high possibility that this snack is only available in Sabah/Sarawak...

The Final Journey

My dear friend, you have finally completed your journey and the final chapter in this world. I was in tears when paying my last respect to you today, and it was so painful. But I'm glad I managed to bid the final farewell and sending you off the final journey in the Crematorium Hall in Mt Erskine this afternoon. I believe you are now in a better place.

I'll still continue to keep your contact number and your above profile picture in my handphone, your email address in my email account and also your contact in my msn messenger, yahoo messenger and google talk instant messenger even though I know I won't see you online again. I'm proud and happy to have you as my dear friend. Rest in Peace Bee Hooi and I will miss you forever. Yeah, I will stay strong and continue to move on, and I believe that is what you wants too.
