Photo Hunters : Practical

photo hunters

Today's theme is Practical.

The Real Human Skull - One of my Year 1 Anatomy OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) or Practical Exam question. I can't remember what is the exam question that came out during my time as it was more than a decade ago. Is it something to do with the name of the facial bones or brain components or the blood vessel?

p/s : The human skull picture was taken somewhere else (not inside the exam hall).

G.H.O.S.T

It's the time of the year again ~ The 7th Month aka Hungry Ghost Festival. Let's talk about Ghost. Have you ever experienced Seeing Ghost mistaken someone as ghost or vice versa (being mistaken as ghost)?

One of the most hilarious moment I had was an incident that occur several years back during my undergraduate time. During those days, I used to play squash with my coursemates cum friends late at night (around midnight). That was a good way for medical undergraduates to release stress & exercise oneself after studying for hours. One late night, after the strenuous squash session, I went back to our hostel rooms together with my other 2 friends. We stayed at the 4th floor and the staircase fluorescent lamps were not working . Although walking in the almost total darkness , we still manage to find our way up (with the help from the moonlight) . Suddenly we noticed 3 white figures standing still at the 3rd floor. I was "in shock" for seconds, thinking of seeing the uninvited guests !! Ahem... Guess what? Those 3 white figures were not ghosts but 3 ladies in white from head to toes (the white clothing Muslim used for their prayers). My goodness... Apparently I was not the only one who mistakened them as ghosts earlier on. Mytwo other friends who walked next to me also shared the similar thinking :P

Another incident was my coursemate cum friend cheekily told me he thought he saw ghost but later he noticed it was me !! Kkkkkkkk... I know he was just pulling my legs. That was the night (during my undergraduate days too) whereby I didn't expect to stay back till so early late in hospital. Earlier on we thought the surgery we wanted to observe will finish before midnight, but who knows.. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the surgery started late, and hence finished late, till 5 am in the early morning. By that time, the medical faculty gate was locked and the guard was no where to be seen (?sleeping). And poor me, coz I left my helmet and jacket inside the locker room in the faculty!!! Bawl :( So, either I rode my motorbike back to the hostel without the helmet or I stayed back inside the ward/hospital till the next morning (it was COLD and I was shivering !!). The hostel was located quite far away from the hospital/medical faculty - it takes 30 minutes to reach the destination if walking with fast pace. All my other friends (who came by car or by bike) had left by then.

After struggling for a while, I decided to ride my bike back to the hostel without helmet. Since I didn't have my jacket with me and it was cold, so I wore my clinical white coat. Since I unbuckled the front buttons of my white coat, U can imagine my white clinical coat flying slightly in the air when I rode my motorbike on the main road from GHKL to Jalan Pahang and back to my hostel (in Jalan Temerloh) in the early morning (5 am). Something similar as batman with the flying cape or cloak? Hahaha...

Do you have any stories to share? ;)

See Ghost? 见鬼 loh !!

There is no lamp post nor street light on this road (on the way to Kuala Baram). The place will be in total darkness at night. Imagine driving alone on this road in the middle of the night. Spooky or not?

Not only that, I noticed something.. If you look at the photo carefully, you might spot something. Cannot see clearly cos too small?
How about now? Can see clearer?

This photo is for those blur sotong who still couldn't spot anything..

Really "See Ghost" liao. 见鬼 loh !! Imagine if walking or driving through this isolated road in the middle of the night and see one white shadow floating in the sky, what will one think of? GHOST!! 见鬼 !! Hahahhaa....

Skull (again???)

Some of you might still remember the fake skull & the voodoo lengchai witch loctor (from Sarakraf Pavilion) which I posted some time back in August last year. Mmmm... Tired of fake stuff? Let's have some real thing then. Presenting..............

Interesting? Spooky? Eerie? Scary? Scared the shit out of you? Hopefully not... This is not Fear Factor. It is not an uncommon scene to see real human skulls hanging from the rafters in the longhouses in Sarawak.

Fear Not. Psssss.. I too had one set of real human skeleton including the skull in the past.... which had accompanied me for the one whole academic year during my first year in uni ;)

p/s : Please don't curse nor freak out if u happened to read this post in the middle of the night.

Skull, anyone?

Anyone here interested to display skulls in your house? You don't have to be a headhunter for that purpose.. For those who are interested, you can get one (or more) from Sarakraf Pavilion, Kuching, Sarawak :)

These skulls are available for sales ..

And last but not least... watch out for this "unlicensed" part time voodoo lengchai witch loctor (just kidding lah, Ah Ben.. Don't kecik hati) :P

Kampung Benuk (Bidayuh Village)

Kampung Benuk is a Bidayuh Village located in Penrissen area, Kuching; approximately 15 minutes drive from Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. We dropped by Semenggoh Wildlife Centre earlier on to check out the Orang Utan but since the feeding time was at 3 pm, so we proceed to the nearby Kampung Bidayuh instead. There is another Kampung Bidayuh located further away - the Anna Rais Bidayuh Village.

The friendly dog welcomed us to the Bidayuh Longhouse in Kampung Benuk.

The Bidayuh (Land Dayaks) Longhouse - One of the well-preserved traditional bamboo longhouse.

The narrow staircase. Mmmm.. I guess... this is not suitable for visitors wearing high heels ;)

The Bidayuh use bamboo as building material for their homes.

The raw latex

Rubber sheets being dried to perfection under the hot sun.

More rubber sheets..

Sarawak Pepper

One of the groceries store inside the village located next to the Paka Mini Museum. We stopped here for a drink. We were pretty dehydrated cos of the hot weather (walking under the hot sun at 12 noon) :P

Last but not least, the cemeteries in Kampung Benuk.. This is not the end of the tour in Kampung Benuk yet. :)

Will You?

I still remember during my intern or housemanship time in Orthopaedic Department (that was way back in 1998).. I was on call that day. (On call means I have to work and stay inside the hospital for 24 hours for that particular day & night followed by normal working hours the next day, which means working continuously for 34 to 36 hours. If lucky, then I can catch some rest or sleep in between).

I had a middle aged Malay patient in the Orthopaedic ward with diabetic foot and severe sepsis staying inside one of the isolation room. Normally if that isolation room was not occupied by any patients, I will use that room to rest at night time during my on call since I didn't have any other place to rest for the night. The patient succumbed one night cos of severe sepsis. Two days later I was on call in that ward. I was thinking... Should I or should not I slept on that bed in the isolation room? Hah, since there was someone who just passed away on that bed less than 48 hours ago. Mmm... If I didn't sleep or rest on that bed, then I had to either sleep on the chair or sleep at the counter (which was very uncomfortable) and I need to continue working the next day.

At last cos I was too tired, so I opted to sleep inside that isolation room- the same room, on the same bed, and the same pillow whereby there was someone who just passed away within 48 hours ago. Don't bother so much liao cos I was too tired to think of anythings... Well, I get called or paged on & off that night to see patients (new admissions) or to review cases, but no "disturbance" from the "uninvited guest" :)

I'm just wondering.. Will you sleep on the same bed in the same isolation room if you were in my position?

Jewish Cemetery, Penang

I visited the Jewish Cemetery few weeks ago. Perhaps the Jewish Cemetery in Penang is the only known Jewish Cemetery in Malaysia. Strong cast iron gates marked with the words "Jewish Cemetery" guard one's entrance to the cemetery. The gates are closed but will be opened upon request.

The magnificient tall building in the background is none other than KOMTAR.

The Jewish Cemetery is very well taken care off by the caretakers. There are tombs of different interesting shapes and sizes. The tombs have been shaped to resemble ossuaries.

The Triangular-shaped Tombs. There are houses and shoplots next to the cemetery.

Broken stones with partially visible inscriptions..

At first glance, these tombs look like cows (I mean the wet cement patches on the tomb).

One of the older tomb, dated back to 7 March 1876.

The photo shooting session ended prematurely cos of the sudden heavy downpour. AFAIK, the earliest grave dated back to 1835, but too bad I didn't manage to take a snapshot of that grave cos of the heavy rain.

Something different - Cemetery

Today I will post on something different.. something that most people won't do or won't dare to do and I know this topic is a taboo to some :) I know lotsa people will say it's not good to take picture of cemetery or graveyards (in case u might capture "something" inside the photo). Well, this is up to individual, but not me ... No pantang-larang. Just do what you what you want to do as long as it is not against the law and, as long as you show respect to the deceased...

A weird looking tree in the graveyards. Is it possessed?

Skinny moo moo cow inside the cemetery. I think the grass here contain less nutrient?

Another skinny cow. Can see the ribs & bones clearly..

I spotted few goats in the cemetery area as well.. The goats are more meaty.

One old graveyard... The carving on the tombstone was almost non visible. I can't read properly the words craved on the tombstone..

What is that in the picture? A monkey statue or ??

There are houses nearby the cemetery, or houses surrounded by the graveyards. Is that a healthy living environment? It's up to individual. I definitely won't buy a house facing the graveyard.

Lin Dynasty Chapter 34

Kena conned by Ah Winn. This gal ah.. 7-morning-8-morning give me this big surprise on the beautiful Sunday morning.. Asking me to continue on with chapter 34 of the chainned story tag Lin Dysnasty. Here is the link to the earlier chapters for those who are interested to read the stories. I really dunno the head & tail of this story. Too many chapters, lazy to read. Hahaha, since she asked me to tell story, then I will just create my very own crap stoli loh (since I always kong ku (讲故) = tell stories :P) Sorry, please bear with me this time.. I wrote this piece of crap yesterday night. Syiok also writing horror story at midnight :P

This is what Ah Winn wrote in the last two paragraphs in Chapter 33. Sounds very chim...
“ My Phres-Phres…Yeah I’m glad we’re able to unite once again…” Her shoulder shivered as she teared “ I really do hope that this moment will last eternally, but I have to go…coz the fairy god mother’s spell has ended. Fate has brought us this far and I’m thankful for that…Goodbyes my love…...you will always be my dear phres phres”

*The show’s over; the clock is tolling midnight*
Carrot quickly pushed him away and ran down the alley as fast as she could, leaving only a broken glass slipper and a wounded Phrestomasi behind….....

Here's my humble contribution to Chapter 34 of Lin Dynasty..

Phrestomasi picked up the broken glass slipper and stunned for a short while, trying to digest Carrot’s word. (p/s: aiyak, who choose this name (Phrestomasi) manyak complicated, manyak susah type.. Why don't they choose any Tom, Dick or Harry? At least easier to type. Don't care, I shorten the name Phrestomasi to PTMS - easier to type lah. By the way, don’t mix up PTMS with PMS)… What came to his mind at that split of second was.... Cinderella story? Cannot be lah.. that only occured in fairy tales… not in real life..

So our dear PTMS put down the broken glass slipper and ran down the alley, trying to catch hold of Carrot. But manalah tau, ini Carrot although small size but can really run veli fast. Really.. don't look down on small-sized people. They can do wonders !! PTMS couldn’t catch any trace of her. However, he didn’t want to give up. He continued running & running.. (chuan leh.. running so fast for such a long distance..) & running ..

Then suddenly he realized he was on a very narrow and deserted road, far away from town with abandoned graveyards nearby. It was already very dark since it’s way past midnight.. and there were no light source since no lamp posts available on the deserted road. He can barely see his own fingers, only see shadows… The only light source available was the dim moonlight..

How sad.. mother nature had no pity on PTMS. She started teasing PTMS and it drizzled. And soon it started raining kucing & anjing. He stared blankly at the heavy raindrops showering the ground, thinking about his beloved sweet-sweet Carrot. "Where could she be at this moment???" Suddenly, his eyes were caught by a light rising from the ground in the nearby graveyard. He stopped for a while with palpitation (heart rate of more than 150 beats per second, his heart was indeed pounding in fear)… Suddenly he saw a white mist burst from the ground, forming into a white horse carrying a gigantic headless rider with blood all over the body.

PTMS got a shock out of his life and led out a loud scream. He ran as fast as he could as the horse leapt toward him at a full gallop. Suddenly he felt someone touching his shoulder (oops... my goodness… ) & what came to his mind at that moment was the headless figure or rider touching him.. He struggled as hard as he can... Yelling for help.. But who on earth will be there to help him at this hour ???

Suddenly he was woke up by the Kookookooooo sound (who else? By the ayam nearby). He rubbed his eyes & noticed he was sleeping on the floor, hugging a bolster with saliva dripping onthe floor.. He tried to recall back what had actually happened.. Was that just merely a dream? a nightmare? Where is his beloved Carrot????
******************************************************************************

Hatyai, Thailand : Uninvited "Guests"

Should I name this post as Uninvited "Guests" or Encounter with the 3rd Kind or Paranormal Encounter ?

*This post is not for the fainted heart. Proceed at your own risk *

This happened during my recent trip to Hatyai. We were staying in one of the old hotel in Hatyai town area. On the second night of our stay, I woke up in the middle of the night when I heard my husband praying out aloud - rebuke the devils in the name of Jesus. I suspected he must have seen the spirits (This was not our first encounter). I closed my eyes and going back to sleep but then suddenly I felt something pulling me and then coming/lying on top of me. I want to move but I can't move my limbs. So I started praying out aloud. I can shout out but my voice was blurred and weak... I wanted to shout out aloud to alert my husband but since I failed, so I just continue praying quietly in my heart.. and the spirit left immediately.. (I know some people might relate this with "Sleep Paralysis"- (the sense of that one is unable to move or speak while falling asleep which is often accompanied by hypnagogic hallucinations) but I know this is not the case). I continued sleeping after that since it's late at night.

The next morning, when I woke up, my husband told me what he encountered the night before..Yesterday night, he heard someone tapping very loud on our window panes for quite sometime( from outside) after midnight. We were staying on the 6th floor in the hotel. He quickly said a prayer and the sound disappeared immediately. Within a short while, he then saw a figure (teenage girl) with long hair wearing blue T-shirt and black pants near the bathroom door standing still (facing behind us) looking at the luggages. We kept our bathroom light on (with dim light). He thought that was me initially but then when he turned his face toward me, he saw I was still sleeping on the bed. He can't see the figure clearly cos he was not wearing spectacles. He quickly say another prayer to rebuke the devils in Jesus' name and the spirit disappeared. This was the time when I woke up and heard him praying out aloud.

Then in a short while, he told me he saw me like "mumbling" at the bed (that was when I feel something was lying on top of me and I can't move - and I started to shout out aloud but my voice was blurred when I attempt to shout). He prayed as well at that moment, and the spirit left very fast.

When we put both our stories together, we get the whole picture.. Three uninvited guests that night. I do believe Hatyai is a very "dirty" town, and I'm not surprised there are so many spirits wandering around in town. We have no fear cos as Christians, we believe He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world. Yeah, the spirits are everywhere. And hospital is one of the "dirty" place, cos so many mortality occurs.... There are endless 'ghost' stories in hospitals, and I have heard countless ghost stories from my senior nurses when I was on call in the hospital.

Weird Happenings (Part 2)

This event occured several years back (if not mistaken, it occured somewhere in 1995).. I went with some of my juniors to Malacca. That was an old fashioned house and the house looks quite old as well. There were few girls in the group and we share to sleep in two rooms at night time, in one of my friend's house. Some of us slept on the bed and some slept on the floor. I slept on the bed together with another girl.

It was raining at that moment and quite dark that night. Then suddenly in the middle of the night .... (i don't know what time was that at the moment), i can feel a gush of wind blowing and then suddenly, feel like somebody climb my bed at the other end (near my legs) and lie down on the narrow space, pulling my blanket down .. I was quite afraid at that time, cos i don't know what's happening and whether that is actually a human or ghost ???What i know is, I can feel "something" sleeping at the other end near my foot and i even try to touch it with my foot. I pulled my blanket up but then "the object" pulled it lower down again to cover itself.. I touched it again with my foot but "the object" didn't made any sound or noise loh...

I was quite afraid at that time actually & I remained puzzled & "static" for quite some time on the bed, thinking what the heck is that.... I tempted to kick the object to see what's the response, but didn't.. If i had a torchlight nearby me at that time, i think i will shine the torchlight to the "object". Well, i don't & i don't know where's the room light switch is located...

Time seems passed very slow that night.. I was afraid initially, but finally, i fell asleep later on as well ,... i think cos i was too tired & sleepy by then, ( cos travelling for few hours from KL to Malacca, plus touring around Malacca town in the evening and night time).. By the time i wake up, it's morning already, and "the object" at the end of the bed has gone.... I'm thinking, whether to ask my juniors whether anyone of them run up to my bed the night before, but finally i didn't ask, cos i'm afraid to find out if no one actually do that, and that object is a ghost!!!! hahahhaa......

So until now & today, i still don't know what actually it is..... remains mystery ..

Weird Happenings ... or Ghost ?? (Part 1)

This event occur few years back in 2001...

One night, while I was driving in Penang..i saw a huge crowd of people, all in white coloured clothing walking in the street around 3 am in the early morning .. on the way towards botanical garden..

later on, further down the road, i see a damn huge flower stall ... & i saw one middle aged lady sitting in the stall which i presumed is the 'owner' of the stall..There's a huge varieties of colourful flowers being sold. The interesting thing is that the stall was there at 3 am in the early morning... The flower stall was not there earlier on in the evening cos i drove passed that road as well earlier on..... &... it was not there as well the next morning when i drove past that same road..

i felt weird at that moment (but since i was in a rush at that moment , so i didn't stop down to "investigate" further) , but come to think about it later, it become more and more 'weird'. And definitely, i'm definitely fully alert & awake at that time.. (and not under any alcohol influence.. hahah...) And there's no special occasion at that time and who on earth will put on such a huge flower stall in the middle of the night for no reason??

this happened on the same night leh... within seconds niah.. and the location for both events are like less than 1 km apart ...

Weird, weird....
