Wrong Number

I remember the "semi-retired" Jellyfish wrote about a similar post few months back. I guess many of us experienced similar things (wrong number) many times in our lives.

Most of them are just the "friendly and harmless" Wrong Number. I won't mind as long as the wrong number don't came in the middle of the night. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night receiving a phone called which happened to be wrong number? That's definitely not a pleasant experience, right?

I experienced this "wrong number" episodes several times at my workplace as well. Cos the phone number in my room is similar to the Cardiology Clinic. Just one digit difference.

Among the wrong number thingy, one of the most hilarious one is ...
This happened not only once but few times already.. Receiving few phone calls to my house phone by different callers at different times and different hours of the day, but for the same intention ~ wanting to buy cooking gas !!!

Wah.... Since when I started selling cooking gas ???? My new profession? kekkeke...

**Updated..
Belows are the experience of my dear friends/bloggers which I compiled from the comments..
  • Wong - Taxi Driver.
  • Selba - Electric Company? Wow... Don't play-play mess up with her, or else she will cut off your electric supply, kekeke.. Just kidding :)
  • Winn - commented about rude callers. So I suggested to her to ask her dear Lucas (the rabbit who thinks he is a dog) to answer the phone instead.
  • Cynthia - selling 4D? Wow .. Anyway, buying numbers are not my cup of tea :P
  • Sharl612 - Pizza Hut? Any special delivery or special offer if we buy pizza from u?
  • Nurul - The Managing Director :) Congrats ... ekkee
  • CooknEngr - Forever u will get the "wrong number" message from his answering machine if u call him :D

I am in Beijing now and a lady asked for Cynthia and then said sorry as if nothing ever happened. She just wasted my company's IDD call and roaming charges.

You come home after a long, honest day's work, stroll by your message machine, and see the light blinking. Did a loved one call with good news? Is there a friend calling to find out what you're doing tomorrow? Some people are finding that they have instead received a "misdialed" call from a stranger, leaving a "hot" investment tip for a friend. The message is designed to sound as if the speaker didn't realize that he or she was leaving the hot tip on the wrong machine. If you get a message like this, it's not a wrong number at all. Instead, it is from someone who is being paid to leave these messages on a whole lot of answering machines.

i would like to be included in your list, chen. a chinese lady called and asked " is that the managing director?"

what's up Doc, you'll love the gretting message of my answering machine " Beep..555-1212, you got the Wong number". Most Angmos get the joke and will leave a funny message if they actually did dial a wrong number. But I have several friends who did not get it. later would tell me they kept getting the "wrong "number.

daniel,
biz trip in Beijing? Enjoy your stay there..

Sam I Am,
Luckily, so far I haven't receive any of such "call" yet. :)

Pink Cotton,
Woh.. Long distance call all the way from Korea? :P One funny experience I had previously while buying things from Petaling Street. One of the lady there asked me whether I am Japanese or not? Ooi.. which part of me looks like Japanese? :P

Kristopher,
Hahhaa.. u are bad.. very very bad :P
U make the guy extremely anxious :D

Chen said...

alicia,
U can order. But I'm afraid the cooking gas will never delivered to your place :P

carcar,
It is bad for company to sell their client datas to other company. I experienced that few times already.

Today I received another 2 phone calls.. wrong number - they meant to call the cardiology clinic. The first caller was polite but the second caller was rude. She asked whether is this Cardio Clinic. I told her in a nice way and polite tone that she dialled the wrong number and she straight away put down the phone.. Walao...

nurul,
Woh.. Nurul the Managing Director :D
congrats, congrats..

Hehehe.. I'm holding MD degree for my undergraduat;, so can I be included as holding the "Managing Director" post?
*perasan*

cookengr,
How come I never think of that? I guess if I record the similar voice message in my answering machine, surely I will get a "good scold" from my friends.. accusing me of giving them the wrong contact number.. hahahha...

i think some people are rude, in some way :( and my HQ colleagues sometimes call to our site office and talk like they are BIG BOSS and ask WHO ARE YOU?! so rude, and 'boh tak cheh'! after that just hang the phone without any word!

*no telephone ethic*

cooknengr said...

Wat sup doc, I guess you did not get the joke either. because it actually the correct number althought it's a "Wong's" number, but it not a "Wrong" number.

Chen said...

carcar,
should give these people a lesson on how to answer phone calls properly and politely :P

cooknengr,
oops... Now I get it :D
Wong and Wrong.. hahhaa..
