Monaco tagged me on "What is Christmas to you?"

Christmas is a wonderful season of the year. It is more than just a festive season, more than just a holiday, or the caroling, or the giving, receiving or exchanging of gifts among family members, loved ones and friends etc. Christmas celebrates the birth of our Saviour, Lord Jesus Christ. Over 2,000 years ago, a child, who was the Son of God was born in Bethlehem. Jesus Christ is God's greatest gift (which is gift of Love) to us. Jesus has come to show us the way to God. He died on the cross for our sins and to give us eternal life. Jesus Christ is the Reason for the Season. That is the true meaning of Christmas to me.

What is Christmas to u?
What are the things that u love about Christmas?
Have A Blessed Christmas.

Christmas is the most coveted public holiday in a year after a whole year of rushing, working and all! The holiday allows me to clear my mind and get myself ready for the upcoming new year.

The church is always packed with people for that mass cos most people will come back from outstation. Can meet up with quite a number of friends over there too :)

Lamb leg? hehehe.. I won't have turkey this Christmas. Used to have Christmas turkey every year for Christmas eve dinner. This year will have beef and other foodstuff instead ;)

As years pass by I am beginning to understand one thing about Christmas. Christmas is about RECEIVING.

Often times, we hear that Christmas is a time of giving. Oh, yea, true in the sense when one is thinking that this is the time of the year to do some charity and good works when any other time of the year it is not? Is Christmas so significant to some of us in that sense? Or are we just celebrating it because is a tradition or religious festival or simply because it has become so commercial that everyone and anyone is celebrating this so-called year-end holiday because it is a joyful time of gathering with loved ones and present exchange? But does everyone who celebrates this day know the true meaning of Christmas? As for me this festive day is no longer the day I observe.

As I was contemplating today I have come to realise that Christmas is a time for us to receive than to give.

The Bible says in John 3:16 –
"For God so loved the world that HE GAVE his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

God IS the Giver of a precious Gift of His own Son, Jesus Christ, to us. Christmas is a time to remember the birth of jesus because God the Father GAVE His very own Son to us. God is giving this gift of love to us. On our part, it is for us to RECEIVE this gift of His Son Jesus Christ into our hearts to be our Saviour and Lord. Have you received Him yet? If you have not yet, His gift of Salvation is still waiting for you to receive it, not just on Christmas Day but anytime.

I must say, Christmas Day is not something I have in my heart, but Christ Jesus is.

liyin,
Thanks for your comment. Christmas is a time of Giving and Receiving. No one can receive anything if there is no giver. Thanks to that precious gift of Eternal Life that God has given to everyone of us :)

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, Liyin.

please allow me to share these thoughts penned onto this card. It is entitled My Christmas List of Blessings written by Vicki J. Kuyper:

"My Christmas List of Blessings"
My Christmas List is more than just a way to keep track of the special people God has brought into my life to love.

It's like a treasured scrapbook filled with pleasant memories of all the times God's answered prayer through friends and family.

Every name's a touchstone that leads to a place and time,
where God has used another's heart to reach out and touch mine.

It may have happened years ago or even yesterday,
but every person on my list has changed my life some way.

Through simple conversation, a warm hug or a shared meal,
every person on my list has helped me grow or heal, or laugh or love or learn or smile...The blessings never end as God allows our paths to cross as family and friends.

So please know that this greeting is more than a Christmas wish. It's a "thank you" card to God for putting on my list each and every one whose name I've come to hold so dear...

Those who've shown me Christmas joy each day of the year.

From me and mine to you and yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Years ......:)

Is there any proof to the following strong assertion?
- "Jesus has come to show us the way to God."

The following is beyond me an I'm sure many others too and can you elaborate in an earthly language - how so?

- "He died on the cross for our sins and to give us eternal life. "
