Plastic Raffia String

Normally we use the plastic raffia string to tie up things especially plastic bags or boxes. However, I found out another usage for raffia string while seeing a patient in the clinic few weeks back. When I examined my patient, I noticed she used the plastic raffia string instead of belt to tighten her shorts. Yeah, she is one of those from the lower socioeconomic group. I guess she couldn't afford to buy a proper belt and I'm indeed amazed with her idea of using plastic raffia string in replacement of belt. I have seen several poor patients using pieces of clothes as belt but using plastic raffia string? This was the first time...

hmmm... it's ingenious, though. who knows, maybe rafia string belts will be a fashion item soon!

I used to make pom-poms with shredded rafia string. pom-chak-chak!

I was surprised when I saw her using raffia string as belt, but i didn't show it on my face lah...

i also dun keep rafia string mah
but if u tapao drinks or food back, they will tie the plastic bag with rafia string mah.. if u collect it, then u will have the free of charge rafia string loh :P

I did see someone using raffia string as belt. Quite sad, right, when you still see people doesn't even have proper stuff to use even though government is trying to get rid of poverty.

Another sad scene is seeing people picking up food from the rubbish bin. There are many who simply wasted food out there but still there are some who don't have anything to eat :(

Wooo.. seems like many has used this method before liao. Besides using safety pin to tighten up pants, raffia string is another option too huh..

Aiyah! This wan not big deal wan! In fact only when I start working I have a proper shoes lace. Last time I even use this string to tied up my undi*es! Have a nice week!

the poorer ones are actually more creative than the ones who are not poor.. they use all sorts of things in their everyday life to make things easier for them...

that's very true. I even saw some of the poor waiting at those coffeshop. Once people finish their meal, they will go over and eat the leftover...

yeah, there are many out there who are still living in poverty, and always in hunger, especially those from the 3rd world countries. Nowadays i made try to made it a habit not to waste food unnecessarily.

Raffia is very versatile one. One of my female Chinese wards use it to hold her napkins on her monthly dai yee ma visits. yucks.
