Tau Sar Pneah aka Tambun Biscuit

One thing that I always noticed whenever I drive pass by Him Heang outlet (along Burmah Road) is there are lotsa outstation cars parked on the roadside of the outlet (cos lack of parking lot), especially cars from KL with the W number plates. I can see some of them even buy up to 8 to 10 boxes of Tau Sar Pneah. Wah.. spend almost RM100 on biscuits? Really so nice meh? Why the craze? Dunno lah.. might be cos I'm staying in Penang, so I won't craze for this tau sar pneah aka Tambun Biscuit so much, and I guess the same goes to most Penangites too. There are other biscuits available as well such as Beh Teh Saw, Phong Pneah and Hneah Pneah.

Him Heang & Ghee Hiang are the more famous outlet in Penang and of course there are several other outlets as well. Besides the non halal tau sar pneah (with lard), there are healthier version of tau sar pneah (vegetarian oil) as well as halal tau sar pneah (but from other company).

Him Heang Tau Sar Pneah

I prefer the Sheng Hiang tau sar pneah instead cos it comes in different flavour - original, spicy shrimp hay bee, cappucino, orange, pineapple, durian, green tea, yam, pandan, nutmeg, corn, mango, grape. My favourite is cappucino & spicy shrimp ;)

angel,
angeliu also like tau sar pneah? :P
monday blues ah?

Sheng Hiang is located in New Lane. But they don't produce all the flavour at one time; if not mistaken, only certain flavour on certain days..

If u balik kampung, must call me.. :D We can go makan-makan.

Yeah, the vegetarian tau sar pneah is only produced by other companies :) Him Heang tau sar pneah tastes better than Ghee Hiang. When I passed by Ghee Hiang outlet, I don't see many cars there :P

carcar,
attempt to make the readers having knotted tongue when trying to read the word. LOL (jahatnya I)

dunno from where ah? u go korek-korek to investigate? okie? Sotong must help Sotong :D

Nowadays semua brand pun ada...

Chen said...

angel,
not to the extend of one flavour a day lah.. just that they don't produce all the flavour at one time :P I don't think they have website lah.. If I passed by there next time, I can check out for u :)

Yeah, I know u stay at mainland (U told me previously & I still remember lah). Tell u something, I only know how to get around in the island, blur with mainland, kekekee... Wa mm si Penang lang lah, so I won't think mainland lang is boring loh.

Personally, I like them too, but not to the extent of asking someone to buy them for me!! Why ah? The reasons must be very interesting to know.. I am so curious..

Chen said...

Ooooh.. u like Heong Peng? we call that as Hneah Pneah in Hokkien.

Fred,
It is nice but since it's easily available here, so I don't really fancy it loh..(human nature.. won't appreciate things that are available in excess)kekkee...

LB,
errr... now I notice there's something "wrong" with your cantonese as well :P must polish your cantonese liao...

Most outsiders or tourists who come to Penang will buy this product..
Why ah? I also dunno.. let u investigate. (I eat too much sotong (cuttlefish kangkung) today, so a bit blur blur..)

Btw, any idea what happened to Sheng Hiang? They closed down or moved. I'm also a fan of the flavoured choices.
