Dim Sum (點心)

We had dim sum (點心) for breakfast last Saturday. We arrived around 8 am in the morning and the restaurant was already packed with people.

Why I like this place? Cos the dim sum here is not oily (more healthy, hahaha) and... there are big whole succulent prawns inside the har kau siu mai !! Very reasonable price & decent food.

Lormaikai (糯米雞). Selba, this is how lormaikai looks like :) This lormaikai was a too soggy, hence not up to standard. I didn't eat the lormaikai (my hubby had it) cos I was busy enjoying the har kau & siew mai..

My favourite Har Kau (蝦餃) or shrimp dumplings & Siew Mai (燒賣) :) There's big prawns inside these steamed dimsum *slurp*

My another all-time favourites - Yam Puff or Wu Kok (竽角) - Mashed taro/yam, stuffed with diced mushrooms, shrimp and pork. It is surrounded by a layer of crispy & fluffy brown dough (each time I eat dim sum, I will definitely order this)

Feel so bloated after we finished the servings... till I omitted lunch for the day :P

I just fast-fast took one overall pict, then the chopstick started attacking the food :D

If u see the 3rd pict (on har kau siu mai) there's one piece har kau missing in action :P cos inside the stomach already ;)

Selba,
Hehhee.. how many "must have item or food" on your "must have" list liao? :D

why cant Malaysian enjoy HOT dim sum....everything must be on table and by the time we are half way thru - the dim sum is cold....nice meh ?

Chen said...

thao,
I guess the dimsum in Belgium is pricey as well :)

ben,
My "pengsan" or "fainted" version is available since long time ago liao.. those old timers in my blog will know that.. Anyway, my version is different from yours lah.. Mine just "pure pengsan", no "keluar buih-buih putih" one, hahahha... so no need "no IC"

Next time I come Kuching time, I cia, but u pay :P kekkeke...

foodcrazee,
It's more convenient to get few plates on table rather than ordering one or two plates and then wait for the waiter or waitress to come to get the next plate :) Anyway, to me, the hot dim sum & cold dim sum don't made much difference lah (this is just my personal opinion) Even at home, after I steam the dim sum, I will wait for it to cool down before I eat :D

wah...must bring me to the place man!

traditionally, waitress will push the cart around. and best to keep it in bamboo basket to keep it warm.

fav is Har Kau also since I like prawns and phoenix claw. i like my dim sum small, preferably bite sized. easier to eat mah :)

Must remember to take my dad there for tim sum when I next go home. Lormaikai is not a lormaikai if it's not oily ;)

Yummy ... wah u must bring me there ... I want I want

Chen said...

ivan,
Might be u can borrow unker's kayak & kayak here to Penang :D Then we can go makan :)

slurp,
yeah, the waiters and waitress will push the cart around, but since there are lotsa customers inside the coffee shop, will take quite a while for the waiters to arrive. We can go ourselves to the cart to select what we want as well (faster loh)

Phoenix claw is nice. But I'm too full this time to order that :D

may,
go go go :D
the har kau & siew mai miss u too ;)
I can see them waving their little hands asking u to go & eat them :P

Chen said...

IMLS,
little bit oily still okie lah.. but if too oily... *ahem*

kristopher,
so far, I haven't come across the really nice dim sum in Kuching yet :) Do inform me if u find the good ones in Kuching :)

sbanboy,
hahaha, seems like u want to eat lotsa things woh.. Must make a list liao :D

I used to rush to coffeshops in menglembu and ipoh town to catch dim sum with my housemates. They disappear very quickly. Good things come in small packages. And they go in no time. Yum.

Selba said...

Oh.... you also eat DimSum with mayonnaise? We don't in Indonesia :)

Robin CHAN said...

We also have Tai Tong in SG, aka Big East Restuarant.. famous for the same dishes and tim sum..

They are now located in Chinatown area,

Chen said...

timber,
another dim sum lover :)

agus,
Ipoh is another famous place for dim sum :) Hehehe, good things go in no time; just like the saying "Now u see it, now u don't" ;)

jonboy,
bread chicken curry? nope, I didn't have that. Yeah, the dim sum here is tasty :)

selba,
that mayonnaise is for certain dim sum dishes only (the fried one). It's optional. Most places don't serve mayonnaise and if so, they just spread the mayonnaise on top of the fried dim sum :)

robin,
Dim sum nowadays is most people's all time favourite, especially for breakfast, together with hot chinese tea :)

Mmmm..your har gau looks delish. And the siew mai too. What's that thingy with the pea on top? Look good too!

I've been to Pg many times, but have never tried dimsum there. My inlaws are vegetarians, so we always eat vegetarian when we're in Pg.

Chen said...

kat,
that thing with a green pea on top taste similar like har kau :)

There are nice vegetarian dishes in Penang as well :)
