Jiuzhaigou ( 九寨溝) : Pearl Shoal (珍珠滩)

Pearl Shoal (珍 珠滩) is a wide sloping area of active calcareous tufa deposition covered in a thin sheet of flowing water. I guess the name Pearl Shoal derived from the stream of water which ripples over the rocks which glister like white pearls. The stream of water empties into the famous Pearl Waterfalls. Some of the scenes of the tv drama series Journey to the West(西遊記) were filmed here. This is one of the beautiful site in Jiuzhaigou.

The Pearl Shoal Waterfall (珍珠滩瀑布) is one of the distinctive waterfalls in Jiuzhaigou. The stream of water surges down from the Pearl Shoal. The water will splash like millions of bouncing white pearls before going down to form the fantastic waterfalls of various shapes with thunderous sound.

First, the pix are beautiful; u a professional photographer? Macam postcards!

Went to Halong Bay, a UNESCO listed heritage site two months ago and while it's beautiful with hundreds of outcrops and limstone caves, I think JZG looks better...

Wah how come you get to visit all these nice places - can sponsor me or not?

I plan to be there mid this year (less cold) if everything goes well. Have heard of this place and planned to go even b4 seeing the pics. Now I'm convinced.

photocrazy,
hahha.. good explanation :D

Takakohazelnut,
Thanks for your compliment :)
I'm not professional photographer, but I started enjoying photo shooting several months back.

I have never been to Halong Bay nor Vietnam before. I have seen from picture the scenery there is very nice :)

Loong,
I don't have so much $$$ to sponsor u :P

Daniel,
U definitely won't regret going there. Jiuzhaigou is even more scenic in autumn/fall.

The Pearl shoal is quite a distance off the main track.. but definitely worth going..especially at the end of the shoal, which breaks into a beautiful water fall.

Indeed, the ripple of water jumping up as it hits the pebbles makes all the jumping water drops look like pearl. .. Haha.. bad description, you should see it with your own eyes..

Doc Chen, did u bring a video cam with you?? my video turns out fantasic.. with action and sound to last a lifetime..

Robin,
every corner in Jiuzhaigou is worth exploring, provided one is not too exhausted :D

Too bad, I didn't bring my video cam with me.. I didn't think of talking video shots with my digicam too at those moments. Only took still pictures. What a waste :(
