Jiuzhaigou ( 九寨溝) : Nuorilang Waterfall (诺日朗瀑布)

The Jiuzhaigou valley contains so much flowing water. I've never seen so many waterfalls in cascades. Falls and rivers gushing downstream all within a short distance.

Nuorilang Waterfall (诺日朗瀑布) is the widest waterfall in China (270 metre wide). The name Nuorilang means magnificent and splendid in Tibetan language.

Hanging curtains of crystal, ice and snow

During winter, the waterfall becomes a dazzling white curtain of solid snow hanging from the top of the cliff. The waterfall is partially frozen. One can see the magnificent view of the gushing downstream of water in between the frozen solid ice/snow. At the bottom, there are icicles; some of which are few meters in length.

This is the first time I see a frozen waterfall. Splendid view :) Different from the waterfalls in Malaysia. There are several nice waterfalls in Jiuzhaigou and I will post the others later on.

and the toilet.. still no improvement after years? erww..

Chen said...

Jee,
The toilets in bigger cities like Beijing and Shanghai is clean but towards the inferior or more rural places, that is different story. I guess the dirty toilet is one of the major turn off :( Hope they will improve the situation before the coming Olympic Game in 2008

Is there any frozen waterfall in Aussie?

alicia,
hehehe... if falling down, then they are no longer hanging curtains liao :D

Robin,
yeah, I see the pictures previously.
But I don't mind seeing it again, since the scenery is magnificent.
And most people says Jiuzhaigou has the nicest scenery during autumn. I took several shots of the waterfall. Some of the shots have similar angle as yours

Very beautiful! I never like travelling to China because of the dirty toilets (really) but Jiu Zhai Gou looks real good indeed!

Reminds me of several HK drama serials.. I think Cha2 Shi4 Gu4 Xiang1 Nong2 was filmed there...

Chen said...

yvy,
There are many scenic spots in China :) Do pay China a visit..

takakohazelnut,
the toilet is really dirty :)
but well, that doesn't stop me from visiting China. This is in fact my 3rd time being there (but to different places since China is so huge).

And I will definitely visit China again in the future.

That series (Cha Shi Gu Xiang Nong) were filmed in China but in GuangXi.

Sorry I haven't been on your blog in such a long time. I've really been missing out.

pandabonium,
That place is not only beautiful, but clean and unpolluted as well. Smoking is totally prohibited. Rubbish free too..
