This is one of the fruit stalls I came across in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Looks like a similar fruit stall in Malaysia, selling Assam/Tamarind (something different, although it's also available in Malaysia), Guava, Mengkuang (turnip/jicama), Papaya, Mango, Pineapple etc. Err, and I noticed something else..
Several slices of fruits and vegetable.. (and it somehow reminds me of our lcoal fruit rojak)
Upon closer inspection, you can actually see thin slices of cut mangoes, carrots, cucumber, mengkuang/turnips, sliced banana (with skin? huh? or is that something else?). Very
Ocipala. I wonder how they eat this foodstuff? I
am not so adventurous didn't dare to try it out as I didn't want to take the risk. Imagine having food poisoning while on a trip, really
jialat loh. No joke :P

Wow, you have so many kinds of fruits over there! We mostly have bananas (49 per pound, very cheap) and Florida oranges ;)
Not as exotic I guess!

I was also tempted by the many stalls there selling "campur everything" smoothies. Ha ha, but didn't want to risk food poisoning!

KKkkkkk.. I will show u the KFC in Saigon later, if i remember lah..
I like rojak with crispy biscuits.. :P
zhu,
Yeah, we have a wide selection of fruits in tropical countries. Most of the time after lunch, we will go for these cut or sliced fruits sold either inside the food court or from the road side vendors.
The normal varieties available are such as guava, water apple, star fruit, papaya, mango, dragon fruit, water chestnut, jack fruit, cameron tomatoes etc :)
eve,
Keekeke, I didn't look in so detail lah, cos I didn't buy from him.
Yeah loh, I won't dare to eat those foodstuff. Sked of food poisoning. Kkkkkkkkkk.. Better to be safe than sorry mah :P
hazel,
Thanks for dropping by. I love fruit rojak too, and it is one of my favourite dishes. :)
fibrate,
Hehehhe, those "ais kachang" stall yeah? Looks good but on second thought, better to avoid it. Better to be safe than sorry, huh? It is a disaster to have food poisoning when go travelling.
No No No...
keeyit,
I'm the other way round. I prefer eating the fruits instead (especially pineapple and mengkuang/turnip). I will pass those of the crispy biscuit, yew char kueh and squid.
did u see anyone buying them? :P
Orh ... this one ... this is quite famous in Cambodia and Laos one ...
Neh ... it's called the ocipala !
*quickly runs before Chev piaks me with her camera*
Still trying to convince my palatte to agree with fruit. Really weird though because though I don't like 'eating' fruit, I enjoy fruit juice or smoothies! :/
Btw, I would like to invite you to leave us a voice comment on our blog (top left widget). You can hear my nerdy voice there ga!
Thanks!
Haha
Chev, you didn't sit around to watch ppl eat?
butt,
I only stayed for few seconds (to take photo) at that stall before I proceed on with my journey to the central market. But i saw a local Cambodian buying from that stall when I left.
moz,
Wah.. ini Ocipala Moz
Too expensive to piak u with camera lah, i will piak u with Rojak instead :P
Next week u can eat the ocipala rojak in Penang liao, not the Cambodian Rojak, of coz. Kkkkkk..
Be prepared to put on weight while u r in Penang. LOL
furkids,
Hehehhe, yeah, I still remember u r not a fruity person. Err.. I mean u don't fancy fruits unlike most of us :D
I love fruits and I can have just only fruits for my meal (of coz will get hungry fast if just only eating fruits) :)
Voice comment? Wah.. something different. Will hop over to have a look soon :)
yenjai,
Kekkeke.. No lah. I'm not so kay poh yet to sit there (or squat there?) and watching. LOL
I only spent few seconds at the stall as I wanna jalan-jalan tangkap gambar at other places, not jalan-jalan cari makan yet. :P
Looking at the way the fruits are prepared, I won't dare eat them too. The water used must be from the river ah.
The worse thing on a trip is to keep going to the toilet. In China, can die man!
ECL,
Hehhehehe.. yeah loh. Cheers for Great Minds Thinking Alike. By the way, this fruit stall is located in the town centre, not in the Tonle Sap area. But i dunno what water supply they use to wash those fruits..
Yeah loh, I hate to visit the toilets especially the loos in China, but no choice... Unless wearing diapers during the vacation lah. hahahhahha..
The toilets in Cambodia are much better than the toilets in China. Yucks at the China toilets (with exception toilets in Beijing or big cities).
you just reminded me that I have a half-eaten bottle of rojak sauce in the fridge...
may,
hehehhe, as long as the rojak sauce is not expired. When i cleared my shelf few weeks back, i found a bottle of rojak sauce with the expiry date in 2006 (but it still smell good). Have to throw away lah, no choice :P LOL
Wow - your photos are incredible. So sad right the situation there esp for the kids...
kittycat,
Thanks KittyCat. Yeah, the living condition there is pathetic. The Malaysian kids are much more lucky than them
