2nd Blogiversary

This is my 676th post after crapping blogging for 2 years. Yeah, chen22.blogspot.com is celebrating it's 2nd anniversary or 2nd blogiversary or 2nd birthday today. From the initial Ramblings... to A Journey Called LIFE....

Few weeks ago, the retired Jellyfish asked me "haven't sien blogging meh? kekeke... When wanna retire?" Retire? Mmmm... up to date, the word retire never come across my mind yet... At least not in the near future. And, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for spending your valuable time on this humble space of mine, Thanks :)

Transvaginal Cholecystecytomy?

Recently, one of my colleagues sent me a link regarding Transvaginal Cholecystecytomy. My first response when I saw the word "Transvaginal Cholecystecytomy" is ... o.O & Huh, followed by My goodness !!!!!!!!

For those who doesn't understand what is it about,
Transvaginal Cholecystecytomy = removal of the gallbladder through the vagina. (Don't tell me u dunno what is gallbladder or vagina)

First of all, is the Conventional or Open Cholecystectomy,
Subsequently, the less invasive Laparascopic Cholecystectomy,
And now... the experimental Transvaginal (Laparascopic) Cholecystecytomy..

Local Exotic Fruits

These are some of the local fruits I managed to sapu during my last visit back home (to Sarawak).

Buah Rambai

This is not langsat nor duku nor dokong... I dunno the name :( Thanks to Slurp for enlightening me with the name Buah Rambai & Selba for the name buah Menteng/Kepundung (in Indonesia)

Even the flesh resembles langsat. But the taste is totally different. The edible flesh is minimal, and it's sour, unlike the sweet langsat/duku/dokong. (when I say sour, it's really sour...)

Buah Tampoi

This is another cute looking fruit which resembles a cute little pumpkin. Can anyone enlighten me the name? Thanks. Thanks to Slurp & Kristopher for the name of the fruit :)

Thick dark-orange skin with yellow flesh. The taste is unique - Sour with tinge of sweetness.

Buah Isau

Buah Isau (which many mistaken as Longan). Buah Isau has thin, brittle shells covered in small bumps. The translucent flesh & single round seed looks exactly like longan, except the flesh is thinner. They are sweet and juicy.

Dabai

Dabai (black olive) are oblong in shape with thin, edible dark blue-black skin. The flesh is yellow in colour which covers a single, large three angled seed. The flavour is unique. The fruits are prepared by soaking them in hot water for several minutes until softened. Eaten with soya sauce or salt or together with rice. The kernel or nut is also edible. I know someone loves this. I prefer the nut/kernel than the flesh :P

This was one of the several photos I took during my visit to Kellie Castle last year. I planned to write a post on Kellie Caster earlier on (as what I promised to Simple American.. but up to date, I still haven't work on it yet.. )

"Incidental" Findings???

I came across the hilarious picture from MMR, regarding Kermit the Frog and his X-ray findings... Kermit the Frog is a very popular muppet character during my childhood days. Reminiscing The Muppet Show and the nostalgic Sesame Street... Don't cha love miss those characters?

Seeing the picture somehow reminds me of a case that I heard from my colleagues several years back - regarding a "blur" obese female patient who presented with symptoms of intestinal obstruction. After the usual history taking and physical examination, appropriate investigations were carried out - including an AXR (Abdominal X-ray). When the doctor in charge reviewed the abdominal X-Ray film, he got a shock out of his life. Much to his horror, the Abdominal X-Ray revealed a foetus (baby); which meant the gal was pregnant and the poor foetus was exposed to radiation! (Mmmmm.... radiation exposure to the foetus and the possibility of spontaneous abortion, risk of congenital malformation, mental retardation, increased risk of childhood cancer etc).. The gal didn't know she was pregnant at the first place. Who to blame? I can't remember the details of the case... whether she remembered her last menstrual period? Did she had irregular menstrual cycle? etc. I have no idea what happened to the baby either...

I.T. (= Income Tax)

It's the time of the year again !!! The I.T. season, The HATRED season, the HEADACHE season, or might be the BAD HAIR season to some (due to endless head scratching). I doubt if there is any employee who likes or enjoys paying Income Tax. Initially I planned to do mine online using the E-Filing but after reading the scary encounter here, I decided to stick back to the old method - filling in the BE form manually. Mmmmm... after tick tack tick tack calculating, adding & deducting the taxable incomes & rebates, the final conclusion is... I have paid the income tax in excess for 2006! Every month, a small amount of $$$ was deducted automatically from my monthly income for the Scheduled Tax Deduction scheme or PCB without fail (sob). How soon will I get back my tax refund? I presume it might take ages (or years??)..

Should I visit the IRB one of these days to submit my "Borang BE" manually? Or should I post it? Have u done yours? Time is running... tick tock tick tock.. 13 more days to go ;)

Last Saturday afternoon, I came across laozhabor's blog. (For those who dun understand the hokkien, laozhabor = old woman). I'm truly impressed with her. Can I intro her as the latest coolest, hottest, popular Singapore female senior blogger? Very hip hop and young at heart. This granny can even raps. o.O

She very canggih wan, and she uses Apple MacBook Pro to blog (more canggih than me liao, cos I dun have one). She is also an actress, acting in Jack Neo's latest movie"Just Follow Law" and also few other movies (I Not Stupid Too etc). Laozhabor really rocks !! 姜是越老越辣 (Old ginger is more spicy). Do pay her a visit when you are free ;)

I did my visual DNA 2 weeks plus ago (cos itchy hands) but never posted it up. Since Butt "sincerely" requested me to post it up, so I will comply. These are some of the "Longkang" Eateries & Food that I fancy & frequent in Penang. The street hawkers food reigns. Too many liao, but have to limit to 5 only. Sorry ah, I kinda lazy to arrange the photos or made into collage :P

1) Air Itam Market
What else? The famous lao hao sui Penang Assam Laksa or the well-known so called "Longkang" Laksa (cos the stall is located next to the drain).

Penang Assam Laksa (RM 2.30)
thick fish paste soup (with generous servings of fish flakes and good swirl of He Kor/prawn paste. Everyone knows about this famous dish..

2) Sin Hwa Coffee Shop (shophouse in Burmah Road, opposite the Pulau Tikus Police Station)
I will visit this place for my favourite fragrant duck egg char koay teow, the Penang Assam Laksa (as most of the time, Air Itam Market is too congested) and the Lemak Laksa. This kopitiam closed at 5 pm. Prepare to sweat when u have your meal here cos it's hot, but still this doesn't stop the customers from patronising. The mouth watering Ban Chang Kueh & Tongsui is just few steps away.

Duck Egg Char Koay Teow (RM 3.50)
with cockles, prawns, sotong/squid, lard, bean sprouts/taugeh and of coz not forgetting the duck egg. The chicken egg version is 50 cents cheaper. Without egg is RM 2.50

Penang Assam Laksa (RM 2.70) - Hot & spicy.. yummy

Lemak Laksa (RM 2.70)
Both are nice, but I prefer the Assam Laksa more than the Lemak Laksa.

3) Swatow Lane Kopitiam & New World Park Hawker Centre
I like the Fruity Ice Kacang, Chee Cheong Fun, Bak Chang, Oh Kueh (yam cake), Sotong Kangkung and Tee Nya Kuih. However, I prefer the fruit rojak served inside the Swatow Lane kopitiam than the one inside the New World Park Hawker Centre.

Why wanna lie?

I read from Eve's post regarding a patient with vaginal candidiasis who denies any sexual contact earlier on (citing her religion doesn’t approve of premarital sex). On and off, we will get patients who are reluctant to reveal or hide their sexual histories. What's the point if she comes to clinic or hospital hoping the appropriate treatment given while withholding the truth? We are not the kay poh or busybody medical practitioners who enjoy digging into patient's personal details for no apparent reasons nor judge their behaviour. We will only ask relevant questions according to the clinical presentations which will aid in the diagnosis. STD is never idiopathic, and so is pregnancy. (Idiopathic means occur spontaneously or without any known cause).

This reminds me of a case I saw in the past. A 18-year-old girl presented with history of painless vaginal bleeding and she denied any history of sexual intercourse. Ultrasound was performed and the finding was suspicious, although not the classical findings. Since we can't take the patient's word 100%, so urine pregnancy test was performed and the hCG hormone level was sky high !! Not only she was pregnant, not with normal pregnancy but with the dreadful Molar Pregnancy (or Hydatidiform Mole) !!

She was admitted to hospital and despite that, she still insist she is a virgin. My goodness... If she never had sex, how the heck she will become pregnant? At last she finally admitted, but that doesn't really matter anymore. (There is only one exception which occured 2000 years ago - whereby the Virgin Mary is conceived by the Holy Spirit). Suction & Curettage was performed subsequently without any complications. Luckily she didn't suffer from Invasive or Metastatic Moles or Choriocarcinoma.

Poor Ah Boy has a BLUE Day last Monday. Apparently the blue season is spreading fast (like a deadly virus).. Today, Day Dreamer has not only a BLUE Day but BLUER Wedneday. Sbanboy facing Post Call BLUES. Since when everything seems so BLUE.. Let's BLUE together :P

1st April 2003 - 4 years had passed since the Canto Pop Singer Leslie Cheung (张国荣) ended his life in a tragic way (summore on April Fool Day). Although he was no longer around, his presence will remain in our hearts.
